The Nobel Foundation has a outstanding history of awards to those in Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Literature and Economics. Mainly because Alfred Nobel guaranteed that those who chose the recipients are peers in their respective fields. But the Peace Prize has not had such a great history, mainly because the Norwegian Parliament elects five persons do determine the winner, often times the winner coming under their share of controversy. And what controversy have they sparked today by giving the Nobel Piece Prize to President Obama... who, in his short time in office has... done what for peace? Apparently nothing, only his "efforts" which have been deemed "extraordinary" . But what ACCOMPLISHMENTS has he made in the move for peace? Any, ANY AT ALL? No. As far as peace goes, he's instituted, backed, and endorsed what has caused major CONTENTION and DIVISION in his own country.
The Nobel Foundation has made a grievous error this year. Perhaps it is not their fault, perhaps they just couldn't find anyone else that has been accomplishing anything with respect to promoting peace, so they had to give it to the American President who believes he can disarm the WORLD of all nuclear weapons. Don't get me wrong, nuclear disarmament is a fantastic and very peaceful ideal. But that is all it will ever remain, an ideal. It can't and shouldn't ever happen. At least, not fully. Anyone with a sound understanding of the history behind nuclear armament and a comprehension of what it means for the right people to have that capability can understand why disarming countries won't work. Because countries will not drop the 3rd atomic bomb used to kill. No country, USA, Russia, Iran, India, or China has the ability to withstand the world-wide backlash that would occur. It would matter not who's on who's side, the complete annihilation of that government would occur almost over night.
But I'm not here to talk about nuclear proliferation. I'm here to point out the utter idiocy of giving the Nobel Piece Prize (a respected and time honored tradition) to someone that has had literally no affect on peace world wide. Until he actually accomplishes something in the way of peace, he will forever be a sham in my highly regarded book of Nobel winners. BOOOOOO BARACK!
